Jens is right, coax is just a tool I use to interact with JSON and REST services via XHR. It also has a few Couch specific hooks. If you want to get a sense of how you can use it, there are some examples in the readme here: https://github.com/jchris/coax
But you can build an app just fine without it, and Ajax library will do.
