Hi all,

a small P.S. on the question whether technology should not be part of the name
(of our research agenda as described in funding applications, etc.):
we have just had a small encounter with the German representative of a European
(EU) research funding body (a crucial middleman in this case between the EU and
us, responsible for the decision whether something can get funded or not). They
clearly indicated that a more technological focus was what was needed. The
social science aspects seemed to them unclear. While this might be a reflection
on a particular proposal and refers to the whole rather than just the name, I
think it is an indication for some areas of EU funding.
So maybe the technological can be an asset rather than a negative. But it is
also so dependent on who you are dealing with at any moment.

Greetings,
Maren
