Hello all, It seems that the Ringve museum in Trondheim, Norway is hosting a exhibition on telephone ringing sounds. The museum is "Norway's National museum of music and musical instruments with collections from the whole world." The exhibition will open tomorrow. Flettfrid Andresen (Norway's answer to Dame Edna) will open the exhibition.
Another exhibition in Norway, this time in Oslo, celebrates 40 years of mobile communication in Norway. Among other things it includes some of the original equipment used as the basis of the GSM standard. It was developed in Norway and was selected as the basis for the GSM standard in competition against several other competitors. I was at the opening and talked to one of the fellows involved in the development. I asked what type of mobile phone he had and he pulled a beat up Nokia 3110 out of his pocket. He said it was good enough to stay in contact with his grandchildren.
