European conference on ICT and Privacy Dear Madam, dear Sir, The French embassy in Denmark, the German embassy in Denmark, the IT-University, the Danish IT- and Telecom Agency, the Danish Consumer Council and the Confederation of Danish Industries would like to invite you at the European conference on Privacy and Information & Communication Technologies entitled "The Net will not forget !". The first session of the conference will set the scene and introduce the concept of privacy in the age of ICT. It will shed some light on questions related to the importance of privacy, the evolution that privacy is currently undergoing and the future of privacy in an international and global world. The second session is concerned with all questions related to trust, its nature, and the way it might evolve in a global world. In some scenarios the deployment of new technologies requires therefore the confidence of the users and that the users believe the benefits outweigh the risks. In other scenarios new technologies can be designed so that the user do not need to trust the technology and therefore can have confidence without trust. In the third session, we will focus on ways to overcome the conflict between privacy and security. We hope to shed some light on the problems and solutions how these notions interact, what the implications are to an appropriate conduct when interacting for example on the internet.
