Accessible Games 01-08-2013 11:01 AM BST Body: Each month we feature different apps that make different services more accessible to people with sight loss. We were recently contacted by somebody asking about games on the computer, tablets and mobile phones that are suitable for blind people. So here you go, here are a few different games that are available and accessible to people with sight loss. Soccer manager for the PC Soccer manager is an online football manager game played through your web browser; it is based on real teams and real players and gets its information from real life databases. It also updates all clubs regularly so you can always have the latest players available. The game is free to play although you can buy extras such as the ability to create your own clubs and play against people across the world. Soccer manager is quite accessible and you can do most things without any issues. Audio Archery for Android and iOS You can download Audio Archery for free from the iTunes App Store You can download Audio Archery for free from the Google Play Store Audio archery brings archery to IOS. Use only your ears and your reflexes to shoot targets. The game is entirely auditory, so there are no pictures or icons. You will hear a target move from left to right. When it is centered, flick down on the screen with one finger to pull back your bow. Release your finger to fire your arrow. The game consists of 10 rounds with 7 shots each. Your goal is to meet or exceed the minimum score given to pass to the next round. Can you pass the tenth round and become the audio archery champion? Hangman for iOS You can download Hangman for free from the iTunes App Store Hangman is based on the popular word guessing game by the same name. The player guesses letters in order to uncover the hidden word. But be careful, you only have a few guesses before you're hanged! Unlike other versions of Hangman, this one gives the player a few more guesses by building up the gallows as the player guesses, instead of having them pre-built. The two player mode allows you and a friend to play together. One person enters a word and the other tries to guess it. The Night Jar for iOS You can download The Night Jar for £2.99 from the iTunes App Store The Night Jar is an audio only adventure game that has was nominated for two BAFTA game awards in 2012. The storyline is you have been stranded on a broken spacecraft, spiralling towards a black hole. The aim is to get out of trouble! The Night Jar uses 3D audio technology, with the use of headphones you will be able to hear where things are coming from. The game costs £2.99 and is available from the Apple App Store. You will need a pair of headphones and a minimum of an iPhone 3GS or first generation iPad.
