I try to use mobileorg on my smartphone, but the way it works is still
quite unclear for me. Could someone give me one simple example on how to
enter one TODO task.
Say, for example, I have to change my car of parking and buy for it a new
ticket on next tuesday (7th of july). how to I enter this TODO task in
mobileorg so that I can see it in the android default calendar application ?
MobileOrg is a mobile interface for files on your computer, using org-mode
in emacs. It's not intended to be a standalone organizer for Android.
First, you need to set up the org files in emacs, and sync them to your
phone. After that, the workflow to get an appointment from org into the
android calendar is:
1. Add a new entry (I usually add it under an existing heading, using
"advanced capture" which you can enable in the settings).
2. Sync to the computer, and do org-mobile-pull in emacs (C-c C-x RET g).
3. Verify that the new item looks OK. (Sometimes there's an error during
transfer, in which case you can recover the entry from the from-mobile buffer.)
4. "org-mobile-push" (C-c C-x RET p) and sync on the phone. It's during
this sync that the item is added to the Android calendar.
I believe there's a feature request for instant Android calendar updates.
It may not be easy because calendar sync depends on hexadecimal IDs
attached to the org entry -- and the computer, not the phone, provides the ID.
This may all seem strange, but the intent is that emacs/org is the hub for
your organizational info. MobileOrg is a portable interface for the info
that lives on your computer. It isn't very useful without that.
I think I can do that by selecting "agenda and all todo's" in the mobileorg
outline (agenda views). Then what is it the "Agenda" in the mobileorg menu
(next to outline/settings) ?
I haven't been able to get dynamic agendas within MobileOrg to work for me,
yet. I think this feature isn't finished.
