I would put a +1 on the effects being ported (or re-written) to MochiKit. While using script.aculo.us or OpenRico is ok, there's a lot of extra bloat there which i'm certain duplicated some functionality in MochiKit, thus slowing page loading times.
An effects lib is the only thing that MochiKit is missing imho, and the choice of mochikit over brand-x would be a lot simpler if effects were available. If I had the know-how i'd be rolling this myself, but JavaScript is not my forte. Just my $0.02 -- Lee Blog: http://www.splee.co.uk
