Yes, it seems the author wasn't satisfied with Scriptaculous (which
parts of MochiKit.Visual was ported from) so he wrote his own...

Regarding your experiences with MochiKit.Visual, I also ran into
issues initially. But I've since updated the docs to make it a bit
easier next time around. Guess there are still rough edges left
though... :-(

Perhaps one or two these designs could be ported to MochiKit.Visual?
At its base, they seem based around the same idea of a controlled
value transition from 0 to 1 (mapped onto whatever property that is
being modified).
