The big issue is that Apache flags the server as suexecEnabled even if the suexec capability is not turned on. It merely detects the existence of the suexec binary. So even if the server is running as the same user as the owner of the fcgi targets they fail to start. Makes it very hard to test in non-root environments that use the default server & module. :-( I haven't applied the patch yet but if it works I'd give it a major vote for inclusion. If anyone has doubts about it, then maybe a one-time message about the check being disabled would be appropriate? (BTW, thanks again Erik!)
