Ok, a few more things to check:

1) I'm curious, on windows, if the child init scripts get run, and at
   what point.  If it's before or after the thread is created.  If
   it's after, we might be ok.  If it's before... I'm not sure how
   much we can really do, because Tcl interpreters are not thread
   safe.

2) When you post examples that cause problems, that's good - thankyou.
   When you post minimalistic examples that cause the same problem -
   that's even better because it's easier to look at what's really
   causing the problem.

I'll try and look into this today.
