I've had to do this also, and instead of hardcoding the pass/fail  
condition in the result, I simply did something like

<result name="processResultAndForwardToAppropriateEvent"  
do="blog.forward2BlogOrForward2Login" redirect="true"  
append"necessaryValues" preservestate="true" />

I don't have the code in front of me at the moment, but something to  
that effect.

This is definitely one of those things that I'd like to see how others  
have handled it.... but the above worked for me.
