If the cart is built on MG 1 or MG 2, then it will work on MG3.

See the following articles on upgrading to new versions:

There are really only two things you may have to look into. ColdFusion 9
introduced the *trace()* method. This conflicts with the MG trace method on
EventContext.cfc. You will need to update your codebase and change all
instances of *trace()* to *addTraceStatement(). *MG3 is CF9 ready, so this
has been done. MG 2 was built before CF9, so most copies in existence use
trace() though the last release of MG2 is fully compliant with CF9 and any
developer code relying on trace will need to update to addTraceStatement().
Just a simple method name change, the method signature is still the same.

The other thing you may have to do is upgrade ColdSpring to the latest
version 1.2. This is a no-conflict change and won't affect old code built on
ColdSpring 1 or prior versions.

So it would seem as if you can upgrade to MG3 and not worry about keeping
two versions running at the same time, right?
