Alright, it appears I spoke to soon. This does appear to have been causing some of the NPE exception errors I was getting, but I am still getting this same error. Now the behavior has changed that it will get a NPE initially after the application 1st starts up. After a while the NPE error appears to go away though. Still trying to determine the cause.
