Cool. That would be just fine.

The current version on Github will work fine, unless you want to heavily use ORM and/or scaffolding. I've got some pending fixes for those two areas that can help out.

Wow, you are definitely a busy man. The only reason I thought that it might not be in development is that there did not seem to be any recent activity on the Model Glue site.
Now knowing everything that is going on I can understand that though.

All that infrastructure changes and life changes really take their toll, I too am recently on my own start up and that is one of the reasons for wanting to port everything over to Model Glue.

So I gather from your response that it would be okay to grab the latest MG from Github and use that to port my CMS over to MG. I don't have any really high traffic clients so I am not overly concerned about the lazy loading issue right now and will be a while before I have the whole CMS ported over anyways so that feature may be fixed before I am done and have everything tested.

Maybe if I have some free time I can help out, maybe with some documentation or something to start with.

Trevor,

Thanks for your email. Glad to hear you are getting back into ColdFusion development.

Model-Glue 3.2 is still in beta. Frankly, we may have bit off a little bit more than we could chew at first. We had a large team contributing fixes and new features and the new 3.2 has a lot of really good stuff in it.

However, due to my consulting work, my start up and the birth of my first child, I dropped the ball managing the development work. As such, we have a bunch of features that haven't been fully documented. This has been the main hold up in releasing the 3.2 version. In the last few months, I've been building a brand new application with Model-Glue 3.2 and have worked on some of the features. I'd say we are fairly close (1 or 2 months) from making a full release. However, this release may have some undocumented features at first, and we welcome any help f rom the community.

We've since moved the Model Glue code to GitHub. This seemed to be important because before we were reliant on a private company donating space for Trac and Subversion. The company has since moved to a different model and we needed to properly evaluate and migrate our codebase and wiki. This, as you can imagine, took some time. I'm still getting used to a Git based delivery model and all of our deployment scripts will need to be rewritten to make automated releases.

There's one reported bug in MG 3.2, reported by Brian Ghinidelli. Apparently, under load, the new lazy loading model of Model Glue seems to cause some issues. I need to evaluate this and provide some correct locking. I've reached out to Brian to get a copy of his JMeter script so I can replicate this. I need to reach out to him again as it's likely this email was lost during the holiday shuffle.

In short, the 3.2 release is really powerful. While we've dealt with some unplanned infrastructure stuff, and some personal/professional items that've kept us busy, MG 3.2 is still alive and kicking. In fact, I'm using it in several production applications and others are as well.

I have been looking to switch a custom built CMS that is old school CF (no framework of any kind, not even custom one) to a framework. A few years back I used Model Glue quite a bit and really liked it but have not used it for a the last 3-4 years because I had to use PHP (GAG!!!!!).

I am getting back into using CF again (AWESOME!!!) and want to convert the old school CMS to use a framework but noticed that there does not seem to be much happening with the development of Model Glue, is this the case? Is the development of it ceased or is it still being developed. I don't really want to start using it for my apps if it is not currently being developed.

Any insight into the future of Model Glue would be greatly appreciated.
