My personal practial advice to Intel is: Make your firmware API
documentation public.

That is the only way they can control how those APIs are used. Without
any docs, people are going to use whatever APIs they are able to figure
out.

Requests of the type "use this entry point instead of that" needs to be
backed up with documentation which explains why. I am sure patches
implementing the necessary changes are appreciated too...

Just my very personal opionion.
