spoon is awesome. i saw them at gabe's in iowa city, the only bar not
dedicated to drunken masses of ass-grabbing frat boys and whoring.
anyway, they opened for swervedriver (another great band) and it was sort
of rehearsed, but as the night went on, they opened up a lot and seemed
like they were having more fun. i talked to britt daniels for a
second-but he was really drunk...this is totally off the subject, but a group
of prospective students just checked out my room...so i didn't talk for
long. a friend of mine owns protein power! records and will be releasing
a comp. album sometime next month (assuming the money is there) with stuff
by the bunnybrains, laslo hollyfeld, astrodome, greg peterson, and spoon.
the three bands in the middle of that list are local bands.

i almost always play a song by spoon on my show, but the only album we
have there (i'm working on getting more) is the soft effects ep. i begged
for neutral milk hotel and got it, so i'm devoted to playing that, as
well. i'm sure i'll get my way on the spoon issue. :) and i've gotta
bitch them out about getting more modest mouse, too. they only have the
lonesome crowded west, and that album is awesome, but i wanna play stuff
from this is a long drive... too. so, we'll see. i'd just be on the
music staff if it weren't such a pain in the ass.
