The Ventures are pretty famous...at least, they are here in Los Angeles, which
has plenty of surf and very few pine trees. I dont know if Head South is about
them. perhaps, but for some reason i doubt it.

song interpretations? well, this is the story behind "karma's payment", told
to me by somebody involved in the incident:

Modest Mouse were suppossed to play a show in Downtown LA at the now dead
Impala. This was in the summer of 96, a few months before i got into them, but
i was going to that show because a local band i loved that i was friendly with
was playing. So the day before,  Isaacs car breaks down, and they [or maybe
just he, i don't remember] don't end up getting to the Impala until late the
night they were suppossed to be playing, and the owner told them that because
they weren't there earlier, they couldn't play. They were barely known then,
so it wasn't a big deal. But that's pretty much the long story of him getting
jacked in a really bad way the next day in LA.
