sorry for those sick of it; i just wanted to post my word about what i found out. i was born and spent a little of my high school life in a very small town. for such a podunk community in nowhere washington, there was a bit of a thriving music scene. anyhow, there is a very strong possibility that the girl that has made the accusation came from this same town, in which case i peripherally know her, and, more importantly, that friends of mine know her quite well. i hate to sound so anonymous, or so rumor-mongering, but if what has been said about this person's identity is true, then i think this is somewhat important. a friend of mine that knows her very, very well (and is not really a modest mouse fan at all) is incensed about the rape accusations, because he says it falls right into her past behavior of her "groupie-ish" tendencies in the aforementioned smaller community. since moving to seattle she has prided herself on becoming really good friends with the M.C. Devils, and her name was mentioned in a certain journalists' discussion with my friend. if the girl that made the accusation and the girl that my friend knows from our old hometown are in fact one and the same, then this whole affair plays right into certain habits she has always exhibited with guys in bands, or, on whatever level, "rock stars". there are few things in this world that piss me off more than misogyny, in any form. and isaac has been known to, among other things, get really fucked up, drunk, wasted, whatever and to talk a lot of shit. i also spoke to him once (at the one show he played in this aforementioned tiny town) where he mentioned he tried to stop drinking because the "beer goggles" were getting him into trouble. do these things make him a rapist? no. do these things possibly put him in a position to rape someone? maybe. so they put him in a position to make a bad judgment call? definitely. and if he did rape someone, i'm not to the point of deification that i can't cast out my idols. i wouldn't support the band. and if this girl is in fact the one and same as suspected, does this make her a liar? no. but if it is her, the people supporting her that speak with any sense of "authority" on the subject (i.e. the murder city devils) can't know her that well or have any sense of perspective of her past behavior; or haven't known her that long, anyhow, as her move to seattle is somewhat recent. but i don't think it's fair that anyone has made any sort of judgment calls on this at all. maybe nothing happened. maybe isaac got himself into a situation where neither him or the girl exhibited the control they should have. but either way, at this point, it seems unfair that isaac's reputation has been so entirely besmirched. and it's beyond the internet now, as the stranger (in seattle) has picked it up. and if isaac did rape her, damn him. but at this point it seems a bit premature to. and i must defend my lack of name and pronoun usage in advance, surely. i don't want to unduly call out into question the name of the girl if in fact it is not her. if she posted her name on the orignal message that started this all, i'd be interested in knowing it to verify. in the meantime, i'm just throwing out what i heard, and what i believe to be reasonably sound - if the girl is who i've been led to believe it is. otherwise, none of this applies (except my hatred of misogyny). star
