I spoke with someone at Up, and they only made an off-handed comment about
"Modest Mouse is touring in Japan, so how would they be talking to labels?"
Apparently the latest invention by Alexander Graham Bell has yet to make it
to the Far East. Somehow I thought people could talk about things like that
on the phone. Regardless, I believe the rumor mill began circulating quite
some time ago with the short article in CMJ New Music Monthly where he
mentions he had talked to a major. My roommate & I thought DreamWorks
(Elliot did it, right?). Anyway, no one will confirm, but of course, no one
ever does until "the ink is dry."
Re: the JAP tour EP
It is on Rebel Beat Factory, a subsidiary of K Records. I contacted K about
it, and they asked me to call back because the person I spoke to didn't know
if they would be getting any copies for distribution i the U.S. In the
meantime, I will be creating an FTP site where you can download mp3's of
said tour EP. Just hold tight, it will be up soon.
And the new Pavement is genius. Deal with it.
One more thing: North of America, who knows anything about them?
I like what I've heard. Same goes for Black Heart Procession.
