today when sonic youth played at this ain't no picnic, thurston moore
announced this travesty to the crowd. he said basically what lee wrote in
the newsgroup posting, and that they've accumulated these instruments over
the past 15 years. and on top of that, since sonic youth distorts/rearranges
their instruments so much it's difficult to play on other instruments cause
they're not "broken in" like the youth would like. at the show thurston
maybe played a total of 3 or 4 different guitars, but they still managed to
rock, even though the fucking drunk-ass, stoned, sunburnt mofos in the crowd
insisted on crowd surfing and moshing. where the fuck did they think they
were, hootenanny? sonic youth was playing, not primus.
