Undoubtedly proven? With a time machine, perhaps...
You should've been on the Pavement mailing list for
the recent evolutionism vs. creationism debate...

Just because a scientist said it doesn't make it
gospel (get it? gospel?). Scientists propose
theories, not facts, and they test these theories in
an attempt to learn more about the world around them.
A theory may be proven, but that still doesn't make it
ultimate truth. In mathematics we've all had to use
countless theorems and postulates to learn more about
calculation and measurement, but even these
long-standing beliefs are merely boundaries by which
we can learn more about mathematics and the universal
condition. Hell, I just read yesterday that
scientists have discovered 28 planets outside of our
solar system now, but they base that information on
the way that a star "wobbles" in accordance with the
gravitational pull of a nearby, but as yet unseen,
planet. So even when they report "we found a new
planet," what they really mean to say is, "we think
there's a planet out there because we saw a star
shimmy last night."

shimmy shimmy ya shimmy yam shimmy yeah,
*phiL*
