here's my list:
1)simon joyner-the lousy dance
this is a really beautiful cd. just listen to "she lays down her veil." it
never fails to make me feel sad and lonely. something more songs never come
close to doing. i must admit though i do like some of his older cds slightly
more.

2)mick turner-marlan rosa
i guess its the association with the dirty three but this man creates layered
textured enthralling music. its great.

3)les savy fav-the cat and the cobra
this rocks out. and they are so wonderful live. this cd along with the our
coastal hymn 7" are a must.

4)the blackheart procession-2
i dont usually like all that san diego stuff but this sounds different. in
fact i'm thinking i need to hear 3 mile pilot after listening to this cd so
much.

5)rainer maria-look now look again
not only a nice sweet pop record (although they need more dualing vocals as
far as i'm concerned) but a nice bunch of people. i like!

6)duster-1975
space rock. so fucking rad.

7)the magnetic fields-69 love songs box set
this is a lot of fun. some are novelty i must admit but altogether it puts a
smile on my face. need i say more?

8)the red house painters-retrospective
pretty songs. i dig. yeah!

9)the lucksmiths-southernmost ep
cute australian and i have a crush on marty.
nevermind the fact this cd is the sweetest pop music.

10)belle and sebastian-tigermilk reissue
speaking of the sweetest pop i am so glad they re-released this cd. its
great.
i think its perhaps the best b&s in my opinion.

11) built to spill - keep it like a secret
thank god for doug martsch. this rules!

12)flin flon- boo boo
mark robinson keeps em coming. dude this makes me wanna dance!

13)pedro the lion-the only reason i feel secure
yeah this guy is christian and maybe he mentions jesus here and there but the
songs speak for themselves. i once heard someone call this boring, but thats
so far from correct.

14) sleater-kinney- the hot rock
yes this is more indie rock than their past releases, but the song writing is
the best of any of their past work. the song get up alone makes this a
winner.

15)apples in stereo- her wallpaper reverie
this is a short, sweet, fantastic bit of sound.

16) olivia tremor control- black foliage
its E6. its good. its got lots of weird noises.

17) the kinks- village green preservation society reissue
its the kinks for crying out loud! ray davies and the rest of the boys make me
wish i were born in a different time period so i coulda seen them in their
peak.

honorable mention:
antarctica, lullaby for the working class, paris, texas, essex green, pita,
mogwai, don cab, red stars theory, the rondelles
