this entire mp3 arguement is making me sick. i didn't want to post to the
list because i don't want to piss things off more than they already are but
this whole fiasco is just bullshit. It makes me wonder why i'm on the list at
all. it's great when people discuss the mouse and other bands and fun shit
but this dickwaving is just stupid and petty. Bill has actually tried to put
some reality to this entire arguement but everyone just shot down his
arguements with petty crap and "indierockcoolness". While i usually agree
with phil and i tend to think that he's one of the more levelheaded people on
this list who actually thinks before he shoots off his mouth, i think that in
this case his arguements are totally stupid, biased and oblivious (no offense
meant phil). There has been way too much finger pointing and this has
degenerated from a discussion to a playground brawl. the problem is when
people refuse to see anyone's side but their own. "even if i'm wrong its the
way i see it and i'm not going to change." if that's how you feel about
something then don't bother joining the conversation. Bill was just laying
down the facts, not taking one side or the other and i really respect him for
that. i personally know dozens of people who don't buy albums because of
mp3's or tapes or cdr's or whatever. you'd be blind not to believe that
they're out there. it happens, get over it. it doesn't hurt the band that
badly. and there's nothing wrong with selling something you payed for on
ebay, no matter what it is. that's the entire point of the damn site. that's
how capitalism works. don't like it, move to russia. stealing things and
selling them is fucked up, and if someone stole russ's mp3's (or anyone
else's) and posted them than that's really screwy but for stuff like the
japanese tour ep and i8 or anything else that was an official release there
shouldn't be a problem. I'm going to shut up now because i'm bitter, pissed
off and angry and know i'm going to regret writing this letter but at the
moment i feel it has to be said. bill, thank you for at least trying to be
unbiased and reasonable. as for your so called "facts," i feel you're
perfectly correct in all of your assumptions, you only have to take a brief
look at the record industry to witness your "facts" in action. phil, i'm
sorry i think you're in the wrong on this one because usually you're the only
sane person on this list and you're what kept me from leaving during whatever
the last really stupid arguement we had a couple months ago was. but this
time i think you need to calm down, reread everything and have a nice
soothing cup of tea before responding to this arguement. don't be confident
of your answer before you've thought about it some. better yet, don't respond
at all and lets drop this dumb conversation. Don't be unwilling to change how
you feel if it looks like you're wrong (that goes for everyone). i hope i
didn't piss anyone off too much and i am sincerely sorry if i did but i felt
like everyone here needed a bit of a slap in the face to wake them up. the
worlds too big to fight about petty things like this. lets please just let it
go so i can actually anjoy this list again.

p.s. anyone who doesn't have Ponyoak by the band Kleenex Girl Wonder should
rush out and buy it right now. one of the best pop albums ever
