The Independent Mind (www.independentmind.com) is a new, monthly web-zine
about and by independent minds. The format of the site is:
Words:
-One or two featured articles (essays, short stories, shopping lists..) by
a nationally recognized independently-aligned author, artist, musician, or
activist. (updated monthly)
-Two or three more essays and stories by unrecognized talent. (updated
monthly)
-A section for reader opinion, argument, stories, etc., submitted to the
site. (updated weekly)
Music:
-One or two featured MP3's of the month by nationally recognized
independent musicians. (updated monthly)
-Four or five MP3's by unrecognized talent, solicited or submitted.
Store:
-A secure, online store where readers can purchase books, zines, and music
that they may have read about or heard in the webzine as well as additional
titles from independent publishing companies and record labels. The store
feature may not be fully ready until May.
We are currently gathering content for the first issue, hopefully to be
launched May 1.
We are contacting independent publishers, record labels, authors, and
musicians hoping to drum up some interest and, ideally, some content.
The goal of the site is to be a kind of gathering place on the internet for
people interested in independently produced music and writing, to come and
share ideas. I want the site to be about sharing, with as much submitted
content from readers as possible.
If you would like to contribute something to the Independent Mind or if
you're interesting in having your books, zines, or records for sale through
our site, please get in touch. And please forward this message to anyone
