It's the first song on the aptly titled _Night on the Sun_ Japanese
tour CD/EP on Rebel Beat Factory Records. There were supposedly only 500
pressed. You can get it for free from Russ's boot page since it is not, as
far as anybody can tell, an endorsed/official release.
I'm sure the song "Night on the Sun" will be released in the U.S. in
some capacity -- probably as a single of some sort. Modest Mouse is
releasing a 7" single on Overcoat Records very soon, according to Bruce's
Modest Mouse page. That may be where we see "Night on the Sun" surface.
And who knows? Maybe the new album people have been getting their
hands on isn't even a complete mix. The song may be included before the
release.
