[MMouse]: My stance on this list (feel free to delete)

[Over The Counter Productive Culture]

I can not take this anymore. I have been reading this list for what seems
like years and over the course of this pathetic existence I met some
really good people, read some really intelligent posts and even found some
great music. But that is all long gone and I am unsubscribing now. Before
I do this however I would like to let out some bitching that I've been
holding back for months - feel free to delete this or even email me off
the list and we can talk. It makes no difference:
First and foremost Modest Mouse is a fucking band. I don't care what else
anyone says, they are three guys who make music. If you think otherwise
you are wrong. There is so much more to life than these three musicians.
Hell, there is so much more to music then these three musicians. The
things you people write and come up with blows my mind. Get a job, go to
school, for fucks sake read a book. Is your life that meaningless that you
have to become completely engrossed in this band to the point of no other
concerns? Which brings me to my next point - the new CD. Who fucking
cares? Its a CD. You people act like its the return of Christ. It makes no
difference if you hear it now or in two months. If you actually put the
effort of all this bootlegging and piracy into something productive, say
like activism or community service, do you realize what you would 
accomplish? No, instead you spend your time trying to get your hands on
this CD because until you have it you are nothing. Fuck that. If you cant
live without that CD you have serious problems. And to the people calling
Colin out, do you realize Colin probably had more exposure and has
interacted more with Modest Mouse than everyone else on this list 
combined? He fucking works at Up Records.... It is so incredibly 
frustrating to find my mailbox cluttered up with senseless postings about
how to get a hold of this new CD. There are millions of CDs that will be
better. Sure, I love Modest Mouse just as much as the next guy, and
when the new disc comes if I have money and nothing better to do with it
I'll buy it. But there are more meaningful things in my life than Modest
Mouse. I really hope other people feel this way. I dont know, maybe Im
missing something, but there are very important things in the world
right now, and Modest Mouse is not one of them. And I know this does not
apply to everyone on the list because there are lots of people who feel
the same way I do, so like I said feel free to email me [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
we can talk about real things. Be good to each other. peace.
