U.S. Maple is great if you like extremely calculated very intellectual rock music like Captain Beefheart, some Sonic Youth, etc. I think they're great....my cousin thinks they're the best band in America. I've been dying to catch them live. I'm surprised they were "practically booed off stage" in Chicago, their home town where they seem generally loved.... Dunno, you're probably wrong, but yeah I think they're good. Loud and shit. I like that at least. 1. Who are you/where do you reside/how old are you? Tyler, from Cleveland, 18 years 2. What is your favorite mouse song? Probably "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine." "Tundra/Desert" is really great, too. Also, "Breakthrough" is a favorite. I really dig the chorus of "Convenient Parking". 3. What are five records you couldn't live without (right now)? R.E.M. _Murmur_ Wilco _Summerteeth_ Nick Drake _Pink Moon_ Spoon _Series of Sneaks_ Low _Curtain Hits the Cast_ I'm in a pop, qausi-folky mood I guess. 4. Putting records on the internet for free download: bad or good? Hey, I'm all for people putting their own stuff up for free download. I think it's immoral unless you have permission from the artist... That's not to say that I don't do it, or disapprove of doing it. 5. Ebay, bad or good? I've only bought one thing on Ebay ever...It worked out fine. I was happy. So I guess it's good. 7. Do you own the Japaneese Tour EP? Yes, I bought one from K. 8. First live show? Hmm... the Beach Boys maybe? First "real" show was a festival with Moby, Henry Rollins, Soul Coughing, Sloan, others. I still love the Beach Boys though. 9. Worst live show? Saw Wesley Willis here in Cleveland. I still think he's great, but the crowd consisted of loud obnoxious frat-boys from Case Western Reserve University. A really shitty art-punk band opened up I think called Curmudgeon or something like that. 9a. Best live show? Too many to choose from: Son Volt, Papa M w/ Six Parts Seven, Modest Mouse in Seattle, the Melvins.... uhhhhhh....dunno. I'm really psyched about Jessica Bailiff, Thomas Brinkman, and Modest Mouse w/ Califone and Six Parts Seven though... 10. Favorite sound? Breathing is nice, I guess. 11. Least favorite sound? Applause. 13. What book should everyone read? I think that every artist should read Joyce's "Portrait of the Artist." Other than that..... not sure. 14. Signing to a major? I doubt I ever would if offered the chance, but there are certainly rewards. 15. Wearing the t-shirt of the band you are going to see? Ah come on dude...don't be that guy. 16. Modest Mouse list being oft-off the topic bad/good? Annoying at least... The Spoon mailing list for instance has a lot less activity but a greater ratio of interesting posts to non-interesting posts. People tend to get wax-intellectual here. 17. Favorite beer? Heineken. 18. Favorite color? Blue. 19. What are you going to name your first born child? I'll get there later. 20. Five favorite movies? Bottle Rocket Down by Law Beetlejuice Can't Hardly Wait (it's brilliant...watch it again) I really liked The Straight Story, Ghost Dog, and Being John Malkovich this year
