while im not doubting your experience with the band, id just like to throw
out a random review of bright eyes' new album. i have the previous three
cds and was excited to get the new one, but after having it for a few days
i came to the conclusion that it is a big disappointment. some of the
songs are pretty good, but nothing compared to the stuff on every day and
every night. i mean, one of the tracks even has a fake radio interview at
the end where connor pretentiously explains all the lyrical themes and
tells us all what we should get out of the record. im not really one for
having lyrics explained to me explicitly, so that was kinda lame, i
thought. some of the songs are all out rock and roll, making them sound a
lot like like connors old band, commander venus. i like the more laid back
bright eyes stuff more, i think. final gripe: its not
"lo-fi" anymore. there are tinges of that old aesthetic, but the way it
pops up randomly makes it sound pretty artificial.

maybe i just had high hopes after the last ep, but this was a let down. i
dont know, maybe itll grow on me....
