No one has said anything about Modest Mouse opening
for Pearl Jam. The only thing that was said by "edgar
graham" ([EMAIL PROTECTED] - who first posted to
the list shortly after the official site was launched)
was: "if you go to see Pearl Jam this summer, you just
might see Cowboy Dan" (I'm paraphrasing there, so if I
have a preposition wrong, be sure to crucify me).
NOW, if you ask me, that could mean A LOT of things.
I personally have always felt that the song "Cowboy
Dan" was about a particular person in rock music
without ever being sure who it could be. Let's take a
look, shall we?
"Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene"
Is Pearl Jam considered one of the forefathers of 90's
alternative music now? Who else is left from 1991?
"He goes to the reservation drinks and gets mean"
I don't know much about Eddie's drinking habits, but
I've seen and heard enough about his performances to
know that he can get to tossing things about a bit...
"He's gonna start a war"
...with Ticketmaster? Corporate America? hmmm?
"And says 'I got mine but I want more'"
Has Pearl Jam gotten their comeuppance? I asks ya.
"I didn't move to the city, the city moved to me"
Did Pearl Jam change their sound for "mainstream" (for
lack of a better word, once again put the bayonets
away please) America? For rock radio? Or did
America's musical tastes gravitate towards them?
I don't know, just some thoughts there, kids.
That Pearl Jam post said nothing definitive, or did
it?
betwixt and between,
*phiL*
