yeah i mean c'mon..the idea of them joining a corporate label is scary,
sure, but it's probably only scary because they came from an independent
label onto a corporate label. maybe that's better, maybe that's worse..i
don't actually know anything about that. i'm guessing it's worse tho ;)
anyway, even if they're on a corporate label now that doesn't mean that
they're gonna go into the mainstream and completely sell out. beck said
himself, musicians spend a lot of money on making their music.. i agree and
i think that a musician deserves a little something for the money they put
in. this doesn't mean they're selling out or anything, it just means
they'd prefer to not go broke. and bands as equally as incredible as
modest mouse won't necessarily be a huge corporate success just cos they're
on a big label anyway. i don't see any kids at the high school here
wearing a flaming lips shirt, or a bts shirt and both bands are on warner
bros. sonic youth are on geffen, you don't see them being played at all
besides "kool thing" on metal flashback at 2am ;)
so
i hope i made some sense
whoever is saying that modest mouse is gonna sell out or whatever..please
shut your trap cos even if they do sell out, chances are america won't know
the half of it! americans don't want to hear modest mouse..if they did,
don't you think bands like sonic youth, built to spill, guided by voices,
flaming lips, even the pixies would have been the mariah carey of rock by
now?
