i personally think the term emo is just plain dumb, but let's not turn this 
into a game of semantics, now.  i think everybody knew what good man phiL 
meant in referring to the bands on jade tree as "emo."  

and i think you'd be hard-pressed to contend it, even if all of the bands say 
"we're not emo!" and similarly hate the term. so, steve, "DUDE," take your 
newsflash back, keep it to yourself, no one cares what you think your "yr" 
indie-academia idea of the lineage of emo is.  you accept it, you move on.

i didn't think the lyrics to be too impressive either, but it's not about the 
lyrics themselves, per se, for the person that wrote it.  they're good be one 
word, or one quiver of a voice in that song that that person relates to, or 
that hits them on a personal note.  that's them.  not me.

besides, i own cardigan's "life," so i'm not even gonna start on insipid 
lyrics.  and i love shudder to think, but i challenge anyone to make sense 
out of "9 fingers on you" (a great song in itself.)
