This is totaly off topic, but if you think Hovercraft is incredible you have
to check out Godspeed You Black Emperor. My roommates and I have all gotten
addicted to them. A band composed of somewhere between 9 and 15 people, it
varies show to show. They combine all types of instruments, multiple drums,
violin, chello, guitar,... no lyrics accept for some random off the wall
recordings. They are a truely amazing band. I have seen a video of one of
their performances and have promised myself that I will see them at some
point in my life. No words can describe the images that will be created
when you hear their compositions. We have called their music Sonic
Landscapes, don't know if that really captures it but oh well. I would put
them in the same genre (even though I hate pigeonholing music) as Mogwai,
Silver Mt. Zion, Sigur Ros, Hood, and Labradford. All of these bands
deserve to be heard.

Evan~

Hovercraft is one of the most incredible live music experiences I've had.
There are no lyrics, but they don't need them. imagine lots of purposeful
guitar and bass noodling backed by jackhammer drums (i swear, the drummer,
whose name i can't recall at the mo, looked like he was running a marathon,
he was drumming so frenetically. he was also soaked with sweat as we chatted
after the show.). now, picture that sonic jigsaw puzzle being put together
in front of a screen showing snippets of found industrial and biology films.
incredible.

Could anybody tell me about any of these bands and/or
which ones are kick-ass live?

Thanks

Evan
