i agree that it does suck to have to sell nsync cd's to 12 year
olds. but then guess what i bought when i was 12? fucking
tiffany and new kids. i don't believe anyone is responsible for
what they like until they are at least 14 (which is the magic
age when i got a clue). i work in an indie record store, and i
get at least one of those a day. the week that no strings
attached came out (and probably for a few weeks after), it was
our highest seller (as it was every where else). the thing is,
that shit keeps the store open. if it wasn't for major label
crap flying out the door, there wouldn't be any money to bring
in the indie/import/good music for the REAL music lovers, not
consumers. it's a sucky system, but that's the way it is.
instead of telling her to go buy it somewhere else, you should
have recommended something good. i'm sure it wouldn't have
worked. at that age, kids are all about stuff they see on mtv,
not about experimenting

Wow, laughing at a 10-year-old's taste in music is
funny? I'm not sure just how indie elite you were at
the tender age of 10, but I can't quite imagine that
most people were listening to This Heat or Modern
Lovers or The Slits when they were in fifth grade.
I'm of the opinion that as long as it makes them
happy, let them enjoy it now. Who are we to judge?
You're only 10 years old for one year, ya know...<<
exactly!!! Who ARE WE to judge? not that i don't. i judge
everyone for everything. but i also keep my mouth shut, keep it
to my goddamn self. i'm always amazed at idiots who feel the
need to tell me that the band embalazoned on my t-shirt sucks,
not necessarily because *i didn't ASK for their opinion*
(because whenever you advertise that you like or dislike
something, some moron has to come along and try argue the point)
but because they think *i might actually be swayed by what the
fuck they say?* so all i'm saying is: roll your eyes if you have
to sell the freaking nsync cd. you're only gonna make them want
it more if you deny them. and i just ignore and hang up the
phone on ppl who ask for skrewdriver. you'd think they'd know
where to get a hold of that shit...
