> it's a tough one. i can't decide which i loved more, 'bottle rocket' or > 'rushmore.' bottle rocket was one-of-a-kind. to this day, i've never seen > anything quite like it. it's so abstrusely funny and bizaar--full of > perplexing scenes and dialogue. the tape on the nose, anthony's > flourishing romance with inez, the yellow jumpsuit, etc. > while 'rushmore' had plenty of these types of things, it somehow seemed > more familiar to me; possibly because it had a definite harold and > maude/the graduate feel to it. i wasn't immediately reminded of any movie > while watching bottle rocket. 'rushmore' is great though. i think that wes > anderson is one of our greatest hopes as far as directors go. i only hope > he continues to make movies in the same vein as these two--not in your face > humor and spoon fed story lines. as for owen and luke wilson, i didn't > think they looked too much alike at all. they're not twins. i do know > that they have made some crappy movies since bottle rocket--don't see 'dog > park' and has anyone seen 'minus man'? i still don't know what i thought > of this one. > if anyone can recommend movies similar to these two, please do so. > otherwise, i'll have to go see 'coyote ugly.' my favorite thing about that movie was dignan's jumpsuit :P otherwise, i don't know, i can't even call it a great movie because it was so bizarre. i liked 'rushmore' because i could relate to it, which was something that i could in no way do with 'bottle rocket.' i do appreciate both movies because they aren't those 'in your face' and 'edgy' movies that have been so overplayed in the film industry. i like to think of paul thomas anderson and wes anderson (hey i never noticed that before; they have the same last names ;)) as the return to kindness. i wonder why i can't tell the brothers apart....which one is older? i'm guessing owen probably. they just, to me, look so much alike and i found that to be hilarious in 'bottle rocket,' as if they were mocking the fact that the characters are only friends or something. uh, i dunno what's good out as of late, but i wanna see 'shaft' and 'scary movie.' zach mentioned 'fargo.' that movie is brilliant, but as a minnesotan, i can assure you that they overdid the accent by about 45%. also, we don't say hot plate or casserole which they screwed up - we're all about the HOT DISH. duh! seriously that movie is great tho.. ok, i'm done. it's my duty to pleasure isaac's booty, amy
