I thought the new Lolita was a fine movie, not great, but compared to the only stinky
Kubrick movie I've ever seen, it was great. At least Claire Quilty made sense in the
Lynne version. In the Kubrick one they just kind of abandoned the character and made
him into a vehicle for Peter Sellers to act like...himself, as usual (ie., to take
little steps when he walked and to never blink). The only good things about the
Kubrick
version are the way the camera tracks through walls, and the theme.
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-la-la-la
They're using it in a car commercial now, for some reason.
