taking away napster is about the biggest bunch of bullshit i've heard since
metallica going on tour with kid rock and korn. metallica is becoming a
lot like sting. it's hard to imagine that they were ever cool. the thing
about napster is this: it does as much good for a band as it does bad. i
only have access to the most modern of technology up at work. thanks to
napster, i am able to listen to bands that i'm curious about, songs that
i'd forgotten about, and just about anything else that tickles my fancy at
any given moment. my own PC doesn't have the capabilities, nor do i have
the smarts or the money to make CDs and have the music from my bountiful
napster collection at my beckon call. since i don't have access to this
music at home, i have no choice but to go buy the very stuff that napster
was kind enough to introduce me to. music is addictive, and it's
unpleasant to be haunted by some infectious tune that you heard through
napster, only to not have it available to you at home. so what do you do?
you go buy the album so that you will have it and this is GOOD for the band
and the music industry. while i am aware that it isn't solely metallica's
fault, i would like to ask you all to burn like it's going out of style
(and it very well may be). burn multitudes of copies of metallica CDs and
sell them to friends, give them to strangers, or simply leave them on your
neighbor's doorsteps. let's do what we can to prevent people from buying
their CDs new.
