. . .or something.

amy, i'm not going to make any disparaging comments about you, because i
think that's really gotten out of control on this list. but i do think that
in responding to a response to a post of yours, you would have sufficient
time to think the point through before typing ohsocarelessly.

why do gay people want children? dunno. why do straight people want
children? probably for the same reasons, i would imagine, on both ends.

now, you state that it's like putting melvin jr directly into jr high, and
well, that's just not quite right. you see, amy, you view homosexual parents
as a strange concept because your parents were most likely straight. not
gay. straight parents seem to be the most natural thing in the world because
of how you were raised.
lots of kids are born to single parents. i wasn't. seems like an odd
concept to me. but guess what - not to some kids. especially not kids who
were born with a single parent.

my parents consist of one man and one woman. if i saw them engaged in sex,
it'd probably freak me out too. and they're not even two men!

some kids grow up thinking that black friends are wrong, because their
parents don't have any and discourage them. doesn't mean it's the natural
order of things; it means they're parents are fucked up.

gay parenting isn't necessarily strange, and it's not going to be a huge deal
for a kid raised in such an environment. will his life be more difficult?
maybe he gets teased about it. so what. i got teased for being a boy named
star. not the same thing, no, but still a result of a choice my parents
made. and i dealt with it. worse thing about all of this is the kid grows
up slightly more enlightened than the rest and adapts to not putting up with
stupid bullshit.

lastly, you expressed displeasure at the fact that leigh put your quote in
the context of minorities, not seeming to understand why. gay isn't
necessarily a lifestyle choice, and according to the friends of mine that
happen to be gay, they were more or less born with it. just like a person
who isn't white is born with differently-pigmented skin. so try reading your
original post, and then replacing the word gay with the race or gender of
your choice. as in:

"when you mentioned about the sperm banks, that really caught my interest
because it made me think of (black) people breeding. why do they want to
breed? i don't think that a six year old needs to start opening their eyes
to (black love) so that they can run off and tell their friends they saw
(black daddy and black mommy) making ass-whoopy in the bedroom. we already
have enough
kids in this world as it is without angry (black)s running to sperm banks
or (black men) impregnating a female so they can have their own little tyke."

i hope this adds some perspective.

love and gay babies,
star
