god damn... it's hard to make a point, when you fuck up... so sorry all about
the repeats

"One likes to believe in the freedom of music, but glittering prizes and
endless compromises shatters the illusion of integrety"

i belive that this can be another message added to the whole "modest mouse,
no longer on a indie label... well fuck it, they're now sell-outs"... and
along this glittering prizes bullshit... you know what, i don't think that
modest mouse really comprimised anything... granted the record sounds
different, but they had a larger budget to do alot more than what up would
have provided them with. they're still drving the vansion on tour, they're
still wearing the same pants like 4 or 5 days in a row... i have somewhere,
on cd (by the way, thank you so much zach), a whole interview with issac
brock... the man is as nice as they come, which i think shows that he is
unphased by the millions upon millions of dollars, gold dibloons and rubies
that he and the rest of the boys have received from epic... he also stated
that he wants to stay as far away from epic as he can, because all he wanted
was their production money and nothing beyond that... sadly, modest mouse
will be PAYING epic for this treat out of royalties for quite some time...
rather than seeing it as being romanced by the "big time"... see it as modest
mouse having a hefty car payment to a company that could control their
career... brock is a smart guy, and somehow made it so the record company was
not in control as much as they normally would have been... he fucked them
crazy and left them a note on the night standto say thanks for the great
dicksuck... the change in their music is known as stylistic growth... perhaps
you don't want that, and i say that's fine... but then go ahead and listen to
the same record for the next ten years, and don't go ahead and buy a new
one... you will be dissapointed no matter what... i know we are all entitled
to our own opinions, but i ask you this question: how do you know that this
wasn't the inevitable progression of the music, rather than something that
was fuled by more money? how do you know for sure? (oh yeah phiL, you rule
the posts crazy... make them get the vapors)

love and cheez-its,
