somebody said:
"you're just mad that they got popular before you knew
about them"

Which brings me to my new theory -

a band becomes too popular when YOU hear about them.
That's right! Which means that bands that *I* know
that *YOU* don't are still ber-indie, while
everything that is mentioned on this mailing list is
too popular if someone else has heard of it. That's
why my very mostest favoritest bands are the ones that
don't exist, because that way I KNOW that they haven't
sold out or done anything to threaten their integrity
as imaginary artists. In fact, I was just talking to
one of them on the phone the other day, and if he had
been a real person, he would've said, "Yeah, we were
going to cut a 7" but then people would hear our music
and want to buy it, and who has time for the hassles
of sending records through the mail?" Don't you see,
making money is the LAST thing a band wants to do!
Musicians don't eat food, they eat MUSIC! They eat
little eighth notes and treble clefs and sharp signs.
That's why I always give starving artists sheet music.

On a more or less serious tip - YOU, those of you who
consider yrselves fans of rap need to be checking out
the new Analog Brothers album, "Pimp To Eat." It's
Ice-T with Kool Keith doing futuristic space pimp
rhymes. I guarantee you have heard NOTHING like this
before, their style is exceptional. These guys are so
far ahead that it's going to take a generation before
people will look back and go, "Damn, that shit was
ahead of its time and shit." Word 'em up.

Any more people want to order the Bardo Pond 10"?
They're going quick, and you will hate yrself in the
morning if you don't get one. You'll wake up and look
in the mirror and say, "I HAVE EVERYTHING except that
Bardo Pond 10" that I swore I was going to get just as
soon as I had the money." Well friends, you have the
money now, whether you want to admit it or not. Put
off buying that turtleneck to cover yr hickeys and get
the 10" for $9 postpaid
(http://www.threelobed.com/tlr/). Help some
non-imaginary musicians out already, eh?

I do work,
*phiL*
