Can't recommend one over the other since I have only used mod_ssl.  But I can tell you 
that I've been pleased with it and found it easy to install and configure. Also, I 
believe (but not 100% sure) that mod_ssl is the ssl piece for the commercial 
Stronghold server.  But at the same time, I would think that if there were any serious 
drawbacks to one or the other, it would be pretty much common knowledge.  So what it 
really comes down to is examine their respective WEB pages and the package 
documentation and see which one appears to better suite exactly what your looking for, 
and then install that one.
