I think it'll be great to present the current discussion as a tutorial,
so others can make a better use of the ideas thrown here, rather digging 
in archives. This could be a great addition to our growing tutorials 
section for the new site we are working on:

While we are at it, if you are interested in writing tutorials on all 
kinds of topics related to mod_perl but don't fit into modperl docs 
(dbi, sql, caching, high availability, cool tricks, world domination, 
etc.) let us know at the docs-dev mailing list (or contact me) and we 
will help you with the details.
