[mp2] $mod_perl::VERSION not defined

Following the docs at
http://perl.apache.org/docs/2.0/devel/porting/porting.html#Adjusting_Modules_to_Work_with_1_0_and_2_0_
I am trying to test $mod_perl::VERSION but it is undef.

Any clues?
