I really don't mind to answer the list questions when capable, but during the last year people often (for some reason) prefer to ask me about Apache::Dynagzip and associates off the list when necessary. I don't mind either. My response queue is empty to date (except a couple of strange guys those have misconfigured spam filters). So far, I feel myself still on team. ;-)
I didn't suggest to answer only compression specific question. I'm sure you can answer a whole lot of other questions. And you can still plug your knowledge-base/service/whatever in those replies even if those have nothing to do with the discussed topic (e.g. at the end of the email). After all, you've answered someone's question and helped them, so you've rightfully earned a right to do your own plug. At least IMHO :)
