FWIW, we had built a large scale web application suite using mp2 starting at 1.99_17, and without too much of a problem, we were able to cope with the API change... This is to be expected when you're developing against "beta" software. I think that the API change, while a bit painful, was necessary and helps the mp community more than it hurts it.
