I finally got all the stuff back up and running last night under mod_fastcgi. No encantation I could find (--enable--embeddable, static linked lib, etc) would cure the segfaults when preloading Image::Magick. In the end, I just ended up ditching mod_perl since it's not really a requirement for the sites in question. -=Chris
