OK, this is now fixed on FreeBSD 4.3. I'll test on Intel Linux, but I believe the problem might not have been the proxy after all. 8^)

Just tried again, still works 100% for me on http://www.apple.com.

This is why I am so keen to get the proxy out in the next beta release
so that it can receive some wider exposure so this bug can be tracked
down and found.
