Tom, it's confusing because there are several versions of the proxy.
The current 1.3.x code is HTTP/1.0 only, no chunking support.
The httpd-proxy/module-1.0 code is HTTP/1.1, no chunking support, for 1.3.x. The 4/day CVS snapshots of this are at http://cvs.apache.org/builds/httpd-proxy/.
The 2.0 proxy is HTTP/1.1 and supports chunking.
