>Wallpaper* is still magnificent eye-candy for a mere $7.00,

Now we're back to this one, can I just say that it's DEFINITELY gone
downhill (or rather it's probably become what intended to be!). Had to dig
out the first issue the other day to show someone, and it's amazing how
different it was. i.e. I still stand by what I originally said about it
then. Articles in the first were about 60s hi-fi's, a piece on the up-market
mod shop, Squire - I suppose it was basically more of a mod read, and had
substantially less watch adverts. Have to agree with your comments about
it's effects though - Elle Deco in the UK was a lot more into twee country
classics, etc, until it arrived. A nice alternative in the UK is 'Living
Etc' which deals more with 'affordable' goods (i.e. no ads for designer
clothes) but better still focuses more on peoples real homes, including the
odd 'retro' enthuisiast. It was nice to see a room in one with a lot of
records in it, rather than the artistically placed magazine or book.

>If you're bashing it, its probably because you don't think
>you can afford it.
Or, you're a serious design enthusiast who can't understand the appeal of a
Gucci tie.
