You think you've got it bad? When I tried to grow out that
in-front-of-the-ear-above-the-side-burn hair, I looked less mod than
Israeli (sorry, Yosi, but that's the only way I can describe it). Instead,
I just grew my sideburns into a beard, like Manfred Mann (thanks to Josh
E., and several other San Diegans, for pointing out that option).

I know I'm treading into dangeous water here (although I've probably
complained about my curly hair to this list before--will "Eamon's hair"
soon be added to the bad sushi list?), but I'd like to argue that most
Americans (except the southerners) come from a more diverse genetic
heritage than most Brits, so fewer of us have the bone-straight coif that
seems to best suit the mod "look." After years of trying to fight it, I've
finally come to terms with my hair, and damn' it, I love it more than Paul
Secular loves his bum.
