Why Jazz vs Soul? Doesn't make much sense to me, as Soul derives from Jazz
and Rock rhythms, and stretching WAYYY back to African rythms brought over
and kept alive by slaves..but enough of that..I think that Jazz and Soul can
be brought together quite well. Acid Jazz does that, The Style Council did
it, and you can find it in some hiphop, like Coolbone, De La Soul, Black
Eyed Peas, etc. It's not a new concept. I know this sounds crazy but I think
soul and roots based music in general is going to make a comeback, it's
about time that it came back and gave the boring, whitebread, repetitive and
numbingly predictable popular music of our culture a swift kick in the
greedy, corporately manufactured, lipsyncing, dumbed down music making, ugly
muscle shirt wearing pansy trend worshipping ass. Anyone agree?
